The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) published the new standard yesterday (Microgeneration Installation Standard 3012) specifying installation requirements for battery storage for small-scale electricity generation.
The standards organisation says the new certification scheme for will “better equip the industry to roll out energy storage installations while ensuring consumer protection.” MCS embarked on creating the framework in 2019 in co-ordination with the Solar Trade Association (STA) and Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) and involved consultation with put from Tesla, sonnen, Moixa, Powervault and the Renewable Energy Association, among others.
The new standards related to Electrical Energy Storage Systems 1-4, which ensure components within an installation are compatible.
