Report navigates a path to Zero Carbon UK

A new report shows four possible routes to a Net Zero Britain by 2050, led by clean technology, at a cost of just 1% of the country’s GDP.

The analysis, by Energy Systems Catapult (art of a network of nine world-leading technology and innovation centres, established by Innovate UK) stresses deployment of key mature technologies such as offshore wind and solar, large-scale nuclear, and acceleration of novel technologies such as small modular reactors (SMRs), long duration energy storage, and bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), plus the electrification of heating for buildings.

The study adds than an effective Net Zero energy system require an integrated energy sources and other technologies.
