In a groundbreaking move, Austrian company Ökofen, renowned for its pellet heating systems, is venturing into the heat pump market with a pioneering product.
The company’s latest innovation, the Greenfox fully modulating heat pump, promises both eco-friendliness and intelligence. Boasting a unique feature, Greenfox can, reportedly for the first time globally, use real-time weather and CO2 data, electricity market prices, and photovoltaic production information to identify not only cost-effective but also environmentally friendly periods for energy consumption.

Ökofen CEO Stefan Ortner explains that customers can easily adjust the heat pump through gradations between the most ecological or cost-efficient mode. The company has patented its proprietary control technology and is dedicated to ensuring Austrian manufacturing and regional value addition for these devices, asserting greater control over quality assurance and component selection.
The newly unveiled model offers high supply temperatures of up to 65 degrees Celsius and a system output of up to 14 kilowatts. The heat pump is suitable for both new constructions and retrofitting existing buildings. Its exterior unit can be installed with a pre-made foundation, eliminating the need for concrete pouring, and it maintains a sound power level of 45.2 decibels.
Ökofen underscores that the heat pump can function as a standalone heating system or be integrated with a pellet heating setup. With appropriate hydraulic connections and for underfloor, wall, or ceiling heating systems, the Greenfox can even provide building cooling during the summer months. The product is set to launch on September 1, 2023.
